Reset and New Start

Wow what a year 2020 turn out to be.  Never in a million years did I or anyone else expect that our world would be changed by a virus.

I had intended to blog regularly last year.  I was locked out off my blog and it has taken awhile to sort out the problem.  And then the virus added to my very very busy year.

So my word for 2021 is RESET.  Let's reset and restart a fresh new year.

My Words for the Year.

A new month, new year and new decade.  The 'roaring twenties' has arrived.

Today is the first blank page of a 365 page book.  Write a good one.
Brad Paisley

A new adventure that I have learnt from the past 365 days.  Life and dreams are the pages of the same book. Every day is a new adventure.

The last year and decade has disappeared so fast.  I am not sure where they went but I always love a fresh start.

So here is too the 'roaring twenties'.....

Happy New Year

As the New Year approaches, not just another year but a new decade, I have to ask where has the last ten years gone?  Wow a new decade! Time is flying past me too quickly.

What have I been up too this last year? I have stitched several quilts for national exhibitions, make lots of bags and have designed several patterns too.  Mr D and I had a fantastic holiday in France, friends, food and weather was wonderful.

My beloved baby girl got engaged to a lovely chap.  They bought a house and are busy planning a wedding.  My little boy had grown into a handsome man.

Next year is going to be busy with family celebrations as baby girl gets married and little boy has a special birthday.

As 2020 is going to be a rather busy year, I am planning to be more organise with my time, skills and projects.  Watch this space for special projects and events.

As we are fast approaching midnight,  I would like to wish you all a Happy New Year.  May the fresh beginnings brings you peace and happiness with good health too.

My Word for the Year

My word for 2018 is 'Control".

Do you get the feeling I am still a work in progress quilter?

I am reposting bits of posts that I have written in previous years as this is how am feeling today.  I am in need of organising my clutter/sewing studio and reducing my stash.  I love to make lists and cross things off that list as I achieve or complete an activity.

No need to buy any new fabric unless if it going to be used in finishing current projects as I already have a very large fabric stash. Be at peace about using every piece of special fabric in my stash. Just use the special fabric to help turn it into a beautiful item.

Start reducing my commitments and saying no to any new ones.

Be peaceful about my huge number of UFOs.  It is not going to harm me or anyone else if they remain unfinished.  Just enjoy working on the UFOs when time allows.

I need to focus on producing a new portfolio of work. There are many things I would very much like to achieve but time, space and inspiration are passing me by too quickly.

Last year I set aside Tuesday and Thursday mornings as my working sessions.  It is not important whether the time is spent drafting and designing my new pattern range or sewing.  The important thing is to discipline myself to set aside the time.
Ready steady go..

Happy New Year 2018

Happy New Year!
The New Year's Day annual charity swim on Wembury beach.  I have never seen so many people on the beach before today.
All the swimmers were so brave.  They came out of the water a very rosy colour and shivering.
Most have family and friends waiting for them with towels, coats and flasks containing hot drinks.

Well done to the wonderful people of Wembury for their lovely charitable and community spirit.

My Word for the Year.

My word for 2017 is 'Balance".

Do you get the feeling I am still a work in progress quilter?

I am reposting the post that I wrote in 2014 as this is how I am feeling today.

I am in need of organising my life, family, work and clutter house/sewing studio. The important thing is to discipline myself to set aside the time each week to each activity that helps me declutter my life.  I love to make lists and cross things off that list as I achieve or complete an activity.

Any baggage that is weighing me down needs to place in the bin as it is stopping my soul from creating new work.

Make do and use what I have! No unnecessary spending and selling what I do not use or need anymore. It is no use trying to keep things I do not want or use, it is just plain waste.
I have taken bits and pieces from each 'Word for the Year' blog posts to remind myself that this is an on going progess/activity.

My word for 2010 was 'Clutter' or rather de-clutter.
My word for 2011 was 'Frugal'..
My word for 2013 was Peace.

My Word for 2014 was 'Opportunity'

Now I am reposting 2013 post.

Peacefully work forwards a quiet family and quilting life.
Be at peace by reducing my commitments and saying no to any new ones.
Be peaceful about my huge number of UFOs.  It is not going to harm me or anyone else if they remain unfinished.  Just enjoy working on the UFOs when time allows.
Be at peace about my very large fabric stash. Be at peace about using every piece of special fabric in my stash. Just use the special fabric to help turn it into a beautiful item.
Be peaceful when life throws me some curved balls.  A peaceful soul can deal with curved balls.

Now reposting 2010 post for my word for the year.

My word for this year is 'Clutter'. I have clutter in all areas of my life. I need to declutter my clutter!

And any other baggage weighing down on my creative soul so I can focus on producing a new portfolio of work. There are many things I would very much like to achieve but time, space and inspiration are passing me by too quickly. I am going to try and set aside three fifteen minute sessions a day to play. It is not important whether the time is spent drafting and designing my new pattern range or catching up with sewing projects. The important thing is to discipline myself to set aside the time.
Ready steady go...

My Word of 2015

My word for this year is 'Opportunity'.  Peg at Happy in Quilting always places a picture with a quote/saying at the end of each post. Peg's post yesterday really struck a cord with me.

We will open the book.
Its pages are blank.
We are going to put words on them ourselves.
The book is called 'Opportunity'
and its first chapter is
New Year's Day.

Happy New Year.

My word for 2011

Where did the last year go? 2010 was meant to be my year for finishing all my UFO's. I have many projects that need to be finish, I am well into double figures. Another New Year has passed and the log cabin quilt is still not completed. I have lost count how many years it has waited for me to finish the quilting.
I am going to list the UFOs on the sidebar as I finish them. Why? I need to be open and honest to get me motivated or 'shamed' into reducing my UFO stash.
My word for 2010 was 'clutter'. I wanted to declutter my sewing and studio rooms as well as my house and life. I have not made any progress decluttering but will continue to try again this year.
My word for 2011 - 'Frugal'. Make do and use what I have! No unnecessary spending and selling what I do not use or need anymore. It is no use trying to keep things I do not want or use, it is just plain waste.
